When is Motherhood and Beauty Day?

In 2026, Motherhood and Beauty Day falls on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. It is an observance rather than a federal holiday, so federal offices and most businesses follow their normal schedules.

History of Motherhood and Beauty Day

Motherhood and Beauty Day is an official Armenian holiday observed on April 7, but law does not classify it as non-working. Parliament gave the holiday its present wording in 2002, and the comprehensive 2026 restatement retains the same date and status. It closes the popular period beginning with International Women’s Day on March 8, sometimes described socially as a month devoted to women, while the legal difference remains clear: March 8 is non-working and April 7 normally is not.

April 7 also coincides with the Armenian Apostolic Feast of the Annunciation, commemorating the angel Gabriel’s announcement to Mary. That connection gives the date a religious dimension for churchgoers, but civic programmes focus more broadly on mothers, caregivers and women’s contribution to family and society. Schools, cultural institutions and municipalities may organise concerts, exhibitions or messages of appreciation.

The word ‘beauty’ in the statutory title should not reduce the observance to appearance. Contemporary coverage can acknowledge flowers while addressing care, maternal health, unpaid work and equal participation. Normal employment and public-service schedules continue because no national day off is attached.

How Motherhood and Beauty Day is observed

An official nationwide working observance on April 7; schools may hold programmes, but public offices do not close by law.

Traditions of Motherhood and Beauty Day

  • Flowers for mothers

Children and adults bring spring flowers, cards or handmade gifts to mothers, grandmothers and other important family caregivers.

  • School and community performances

Pupils and cultural groups prepare songs, poems, exhibitions or concerts focused on gratitude, family relationships and the spring season.

  • Annunciation worship

Armenian Apostolic churchgoers may attend dedicated services for the Annunciation, adding a religious layer to the civic observance.

Dates and observance rules are checked against the official Armenian legal and official guidance. Employer, school and local-service schedules can differ from the statutory public-holiday calendar.
