When is Eid al-Adha · Day 1?
In 2026, Eid al-Adha · Day 1 falls on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. It is classified here as a Kuwaiti public holiday.
History of Eid al-Adha · Day 1
Eid al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, recalls Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice in obedience to God. It is one of Kuwait's major religious holidays and joins worship with an ethic of generosity: people who undertake the sacrifice distribute meat in accordance with religious guidance, while many families experience the feast through prayer, visiting and a shared table.
Kuwait's Labour Law treats the festival as a four-date period: Waqfat Arafat, the day before Eid, is one paid holiday, followed by three days of Eid al-Adha. The pattern recognises both preparation and celebration. Roads, airports and family homes can be particularly busy as people make visits or return from Hajj-related travel.
Because the feast follows the Hijri calendar, annual civil dates and any additional rest-day arrangements are confirmed by the Cabinet. The calendar calculation is useful for long-range planning, but it is not a substitute for Kuwait's official announcement or for the operating schedule of a particular employer or service.
How Eid al-Adha · Day 1 is observed
A fully paid official holiday on day 1 of Eid al-Adha under Article 68 of Kuwait's Labour Law. Confirm the annual Cabinet announcement before travel or workplace planning.
