When is Eid al-Adha · Regional?

In 2026, Eid al-Adha · Regional falls on Thursday, May 28, 2026. It is an observance rather than a federal holiday, so federal offices and most businesses follow their normal schedules.

History of Eid al-Adha · Regional

Eid al-Adha Holiday in Southern Thailand (2026) records Thursday, May 28 after the Sheikhul Islam Office’s moon-sighting process established 1 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 on May 19. A 1974 Cabinet decision recognises Eid al-Adha as an annual government holiday in Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and Satun. It is therefore a genuine regional public holiday, not a nationwide closure or a date that can be forecast permanently from an overseas Islamic calendar.

Muslim communities gather for Eid prayer, visit relatives, give charity and, where undertaken, conduct qurbani sacrifice under religious, veterinary and local rules. Meat is shared among family, neighbours and people in need. The celebration is known locally as Hari Raya Haji and links southern Thai Muslim communities with the pilgrimage season, although most celebrants are not themselves performing Hajj.

Qualifying Bank of Thailand-regulated branches in the southern group, and the Islamic Bank under its special rule, may receive the announced Eid date if it does not coincide with an existing holiday or weekend. Private employers and offices outside the designated provinces are not automatically closed. Future occurrences require the Thai religious announcement and provincial implementation.
